Britt Gilbert

Britt is a fourth generation funeral director and embalmer.    Britt has successfully completed his funeral directing and embalming licensure in Illinois, Kentucky and Tennessee.

Britt was born in 1974 in Clinton, IL, the youngest of four boys. He moved to Marion, KY in 1976 when his dad bought Hunt Funeral Home in Marion. Britt graduated from Crittenden County High School in Marion, KY in 1993, where he played football and baseball. After graduating from high school, Britt attended and graduated from Mid-America College of Funeral Service in Jeffersonville, IN in 1995, successfully completing all national board testing and requirements. After college, Britt worked for his parents at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion, KY, Rose-Gilbert Funeral Home in Cave-In-Rock, IL, and for his brother, Kevin at Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home in Franklin, KY.

In 2013, Britt and Kevin purchased Portland Funeral Chapel from Scott and Kathryn Hamm. Britt runs the day to day operations at Portland Funeral Chapel LLC, personally attending to each and every family including pre-arrangements, at-need arrangements, all embalming, funerals, and cremations. Partnering with Gilbert Monument Company, Britt also designs, sells and personally sets monuments for families as well.

In 2014 Britt married Sandy Burgess. Sandy has two daughters, McKenzie and Marlie. She is the co-owner of Salon G in Franklin, KY where she has held a license in cosmetology for over 20 years. 

Kevin Gilbert

Kevin is a fourth generation funeral director and embalmer.  He graduated Crittenden County High in 1991 and received his diploma from Mid-America College of Funeral Service in 1993.  Kevin worked for his parents, Terry and Sandy Gilbert, at Gilbert Funeral Home upon graduation from high school.  In 1995 Kevin moved to Franklin, KY when he purchased Booker Funeral Home, now Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home. Kevin is a member of the First Baptist Church in Franklin, Franklin Lions Club and Kentucky Funeral Directors Assc.

Kevin also owns Gilbert Monument Company where he designs, sells, and sets granite memorials in the Franklin/Portland area.

Kevin married Kimberly Smith in 1999 and they have two children Brittanie and Alex. Kim is a licensed cosmetologist and is Co-Owner of Salon G in Franklin, KY.
