Mr. Joseph Darrell Swallows age 80 of Cottontown, TN died Friday, July 2, 2021 at Signature Healthcare in Portland, TN. Mr. Swallows was born November 3, 1940 in Robertson Co., TN the son of the late Joseph Clinton and Nancy Allen Swallows.

Mr. Swallows is survived by his longtime partnerLola Mae Riley of Cottontown, TN and his sister Marteen. His extended family; Lynn McGee (Tim) of Portland, TN, Keeley McGee of Portland, TN, Kelcey Robinson (CJ) of Portland, TN, Savannah Robinson of Portland, TN, Nick Riley (Chelsea) of Portland, TN, Tara Foster (Doug) of Bowling Green, KY, Robbie Riley (Kelly) of Cottontown, TN, Jared Riley of Portland, TN, Rachel Riley of Portland, TN, along with several nieces and nephews. 

Along with his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by Randy and Bob Riley. He was of Baptist faith and retired after 30 years of service to Globe Furniture in Hendersonville, TN and TDOT after that. 

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, July 5, 2021 at Gilbert Funeral Home in Portland, TN. The family has chosen cremation following the visitation  on Monday.
