Obituary

Mr. John Young age 78 of Portland, TN passed away Monday, August 2, 2021. Mr. Young was born May 3, 1943 in Parsons, WV the son of the late John Young and Gladys Calhoun.

Mr. Young is survived by his wife of 59 years, Linda Lou Young of Portland, TN. A son Johnny Young of Tavares, FL along with two daughters Stacey Bibb (Jonathan) of Portland, TN and Ann Kachner (Lee) of Alliance, OH. Four grandchildren; Robert McKinney, Ashley McKinney, Kaitlin Bibb and Jonathan “Connor” Bibb. Three great grandchildren; Marley, Maxen and Maddix Mottice. 

Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, Jay Adam Young and a sister, Nancy Clevenger.

Mr. Young was retired from Ford Auto Glass after many years of service. John was an avid hunter and sportsman. He loved to hunt almost any wild game and enjoyed fishing any body of water. When he wasn’t hunting, he enjoyed reading any book he could find dealing with history and WWII. John will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Gilbert Funeral Home in Portland, TN. Burial will follow at Whippoorwill Baptist Church Cemetery in Logan County, KY. Visitation will be held 1:00 PM until service time Saturday at Gilbert Funeral Home.
